I have Adobe Acrobat on my iMac . I can’t seem to close it or use it.

Reboot your Mac. That will close the Adobe product. If you do not have Monterey 12.7.2, Ventura 13.6.3, or Sonoma 14.2 on your Mac, then visit software update and apply only the appropriate update to your existing macOS installation. For instance, Monterey 12.6 to 12.7.2.
Then, the question is whether this is Acrobat Pro (licensed and subscribed) or Acrobat Reader DC and it is compatible with your version of macOS? Visit the Help menu on the Adobe product and check for updates. If an update is found, quit the open Acrobat application and proceed with the updater. If there is any error in updating to the current version of Acrobat whatever, then contact Adobe for Acrobat Pro, and if Reader, download the current version from the Adobe site.
