Opening weather app, and scroll through data, the default map has changed to “wind.” I want the default to be “precipitation.” I can’t seem to find a way to change it, and “wind” is a really odd default map.
iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 17
At the top left of your Wind map representation, tap the word "Wind" and that expands the weather map to full screen. On the upper right, you will see the layers symbol and click that to select Precipitation, and then click Done.
In practice, wind is sticky and it may require multiple executions of the first paragraph to change it to precipitation. Mine finally changed.
Tested: iOS 17.2.1
They need to tweak that algorithm then! There's no way wind is more interesting than the rain and snow storms coming my way.
I need to get the wind map off of my weather app. I want precipitation the above did not work.
My MacOS Weather Version 4.2.1 (524) is still defaulting to the wind map. This is crazy.
Still a problem in the latest version(17.3.1) in March. Anyone found a solution or heard anything?
Apple, the Dark Sky app would never have done this.

Issue is back again in 17.4.1. This is annoying for something sooooo simple to permanently fix.
Another high visibility but low priority issue. Why can’t developers take a few minutes to fix these kinds of issues?
Same issue as everyone. I’m not buying the wind map shows up based upon location. Currently, my area wind speed is WSW 7mph. Certainly not gale force winds that I should be aware of.
