iPod Touch 2: Cannot Connect to iTunes Store

I’ve had an iPod touch (2nd generation 2008-2010) for a while now, and the App Store was always a problem. Adding my Apple ID, or signing in to download one of the few apps on the App Store that started working for me today, always gave me the same annoying and frustrating message; Cannot connect to iTunes Store. All the data I input is always correct: my Apple ID and password. It’s even sadder when I realized geometry dash lite was compatable, considering it’s on 4.2.1 and how old it is. Does ANYONE have a fix? I’m not looking to jailbreak.

I believe that to buy anything or to edit payment information etc. requires iOS 10.0 or later, which would mean that a 2nd generation iPod Touch cannot access the store directly.

You mention the few remaining apps in the store that can be used with iOS 4.2.1 but even if they are free, Apple regards it as a purchase, which means it requires iOS 10.0 or later.
