How to recover accidentally overwritten photo file on iCloud files drive?

I’d recommend posting video o your experience. The viewer does not modify files. I can pan and zoom with ease, no changes are made. The fact that elsewhere you indicate files have “copy” added leads me to believe that you are editing files using some mechanism other than the file browser which offers no such features.

Regarding accidentally deleting a file in iphone Files app

1. you have to scroll to the bottom of the actions and tap the red delete button
2. There is a recently deleted folder which saves for 30 days

The image viewer makes no changes to your file. But if you edit it, you’ll make changes.

OK some quick actions create a copy (remove background) some don't (rotate, markup)

The geniuses who reconfigured this forum put Best as the default sort order, change it to Oldest (top RH)
