Third party charger not working on iPhone 14 after iOS 17.2 update

After update to iOS 17.2 iPhone 14 can't charge on my Xiaomi wireless charger. When I place phone on charger it shows Charged (for exemple 54%) and does not start to charge. I have tried different positions, restarted the phone but nothing helps. Before the update to iOS 17.2 everything was fine.

I don’t know what the issue is, but I am experiencing the same issue with an older mophie brand wireless charger. It worked fine with my iPhone 14 Pro until the day updated to iOS 17.2. I think this new update fixed wireless charging issues for some and created new issues for others. When I place the phone on the charger it recognizes the phone and begins charging but errors out within a minute and the phone stops charging. This new iOS update broke something in the compatibility with my charger.

Also, I found your post with a Google search. Couldn’t find it with Apple’s search. I had to copy the URL from Google and paste it into Apple’s browser. So, you know it’s hard to investigate what you can’t find…

I have exactly the same issue with Belkin wireless charger for iPhone 14 Pro Max. It looks like iOS 17.2 did something to wireless charging. I believe this is software issue since bunch of us experiencing this with different chargers. Even iOS 17.2.1 hasn’t fixed the issue. It chargers slightly faster than iOS 17.2 but not as fast as it used to be.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max won’t charge on a wireless charger if phone is in a phone case. This all started since iOS 17 came out. There were no issues with the previous iOS 16 versions. The phone case is made for wireless charging and have always kept my phone in a case, NOW every night I’m going to have to remove the phone case so my iPhone can charge fully. As I said before I had none of these issues when my iPhone was on iOS 16 versions. Even my wireless car charger won’t fully keep my phone charged when travelling, and I do sometimes travel for more than 1.5 hours.

Apple needs to listen to us and realise they have caused a major issue with their iOS

The only thing we got so far is an Apple employee gaslighting us into believing it was not the software update despite dozens of people having the same issue. Never change, Apple. No, it isn't the charger's fault, this has been established long before. Just deny the claim until it gets silently fixed without any acknowledgment that it ever happened :))

Folks, I was facing this same annoying issue in my iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 17.3).

I noticed it started happening by 17.2 and it wasn't fixed in 17.3.

I use a Mophie 3-in-1 wireless (2019ish) charger.

I use an automation in my iPhone that makes it always with on "Low Power Mode" when charging. It turns out that when I manually turned off "Low Power Mode" and putted it in the charger base, it started working normal again.

I'd avise you folks to give it a try !

I too had the same problem of the iPhone XR not wireless charging after updating to iOS 17.3. Before updating there was no problem. After much frustration and a booking with Apple service I discovered what turned out to be, for me, a simple solution which enabled the iPhone to wirelessly charge. I simply plugged the wireless charger into the stronger, 3amp I think, port in my USB hub and charging then worked normally as it did prior to the update. Needless to say I cancelled my appointment with Apple service.

Same here. I’ve had my Mophie 3 in 1 for a year or more. In fact, I have 4 of them for my wife and I at home and at our camper. Both our phones, 13 pro max and 14 pro max, will no longer charge properly on the ones at home. Never had a problem until 17.2. Still broken with 17.3.

The funny thing is, if I position my phone just right, on it side, I can frequently get it to charge. That is until it gets to 91%. After that, the light on the charger starts blinking and charging stops. The charger will blink after removal of the phone until I unplug it! So, whatever Apple has done causes the charger to freak out and require a reset.

So I tried an experiment last night. I tried my wireless charger as I had done successfully up until ios17.2 and it errored out after a minute or so. Same issue upgrading to ios17.2. I then removed the cover on my iPhone 14 Pro and propped it up on the inclined charging pad so that it sat as close as possible. It was actually hanging on the protruding camera lenses. The charging worked. It didn’t error out all night long. So, whatever Apple did with iOS 17.2 it appears they made it more sensitive to the charging coil location. Anyway, if you’re up for it, give that a try and let us know.
