Changed Apple password - now can't log in to AppleTV on SmartTV

I changed my apple password and now all the TV shows is a grey screen with a little rotating wheel thing. I tried resetting. Nothing. Even if I navigate to a menu item to login it just returns me to the grey screen with the rotating wheel thing. Any ideas? I do not have an apple tv device just the smart tv app.

I do not have an apple tv device, just the [Apple TV+] app.

Depending on the smart TV platform (Android TV/Roku/Fire TV/LG webOS/Samsung Tizen/etc.), see if you can:

  1. Delete the Apple TV+ app.
  2. Restart the smart TV (not just standby mode, but a real restart), through settings, or by disconnecting power.
  3. Re-install the Apple TV+ app.
  4. Try signing in again.
