Using a different reply to address for your iphone mail app

been looking for answers on this one, and then i just figure it out so i thought i share it,

log in to apple , especially to write this for those who needs it.

if you have any other email accounts, i'm not sure,

if you have a domain name, just create a mailbox for it (shared or not) and use the sign in credentials and mails servers and add that account to apple / iphone mail - follow the rest of the ones below for account adding to iphone mail,

  • if once u have the account u can choose the from field to that account
  • but if this is not what you want, the next part is for you

if you have a gmail (which i have) and a specific domain or another email,

this is what you do,

  • log in to gmail (main account / placeholder account)
  • go to manage my account, security, activate 2fa if you can , or use un-secure access for your emails
  • with 2fa, you can set up an app password
  • with unsecure, you use your login password
  • write this app password down, and name it gmail email access on google or whatever u fancy
  • they will only show you the password once and that is it, if you lost it , you need to redo the create app password step, and maybe remove the old one
  • ------------------------ line break
  • if you have not already setup imap / pop access in your gmail,
  • navigate to cog icon (settings), under forwarding and pop/imap
  • turn on pop or imap or both , your choice
  • return to cog / settings , accounts and import
  • send mail as:
  • connect your 3rd party email and add your 3rd party email here as an alias
  • do whatever confirmation it is required, having access to both gmail and the 3rd party account
  • for me its xyz@mydomain.com
  • in your cpanel for the domain , all you need to do is setup up a forwarding rule to send emails to your mail account xyz@mydomain.com > forwards to > yourgmail@gmail.com
  • in your 3rd party email / company email (second option above), you just need a forward rule as well
  • if you want to see the 3rd party emails in your gmail, you will need to add "check mail from other accounts" in gmail and set it up accordingly, this should not be too hard, follow on screen instructions
  • -------------------- next line break
  • now for the final part
  • go to your iphone / mail app in phone settings, navigate to mail,
  • accounts , add account, choose other,
  • add a new account, add mail account,
  • name, email , :
  • - (reply to address , also an alias of gmail, xyz@mydomain.com ) ,
  • password none ( just type anything for now) , description
  • next the settings portion
  • you will see imap / pop (choose whichever, tho mine works with imap)
  • name as before
  • email (your specific reply - to address )
  • description (my special email)
  • host name : imap.gmail.com
  • username: your gmail usename email (not the reply to address)
  • if you use 3rd party directly, as an inbox, then those credentials , not gmail
  • password: gmail = app password, gmail unsecured = gmail password, 3rdparty email, that password
  • same for outgoing (the crucial one)
  • smtp.gmail.com
  • as above: username: your gmail username email (not the reply to address)
  • as above, password: gmail = app password, gmail unsecured = gmail password, 3rdparty email, that password
  • next and if the verify goes thru your done
  • ------------------ line break
  • so what it looks like on my mail app
  • i have 2 mail box, BOTH SAME
  • 1 is my gmail as gmail original address abc@gmail.com
  • 2 is my reply - to , logins and download and sends email as gmail but the from is my own xyz@mydomain.com

at the time of writing this i have tested sending mail and receiving both works..

good luck !!
