I'm attempting to Sync my iPhone 12Pro running 17.2 to my MAC Running Monterey 12.7.2 but it just continues saying preparing to sync and never does. The backup completes in the normal time but the sync never starts let alone finishes.

I am having the same problem but I am running the latest version of Ventura (13.5.2) and IOS (17.2.1). I need this feature as I do not back up to the cloud and I sync photos and purchased music from iTunes to my iPhone 12 Pro Max.
CAN ANYONE HELP?
I got connected to Apple support. They had me disconnect my phone from the Mac. Then they had me shut down the music ap on my Mac. They then had restart the music ap and skip the backup and push the sinc button while the application was saying “preparing to sinc”. After all that it did my sinc in normal time. Good luck!
It did not work. Apple Music reports that the device is open in another window (that being Finder). I followed your instructions. Unfortunately no help. Thanks for trying.
I noticed the issue while using iOS 17.3 on an iPhone 15. Today, Feedback Assistant notified me of a software update and I am now once again able to backup to my Mac.
