How do I export Journal app entries to html or rtf?
I like to know if there is a way to export entries from the new Apple journal app to some sort of standard compliant format such as html or even rtf.

I intended to use the app but changed my mind when I discovered you can’t print or export entries. Apple please fix this.

Apparently not. This app has no appeal to me as Apple asks us to entrap our data. What happens to pur memories if/when the app is abandoned, if I choose to switch platforms? Also: no Mac support? A keyboard is a nice thing to have when journaling…
Dear Apple,
I will not allow you to "own" my journal. If you won't provide some way to export the content to a useful format that I can own my content, you can keep this app.
One more item on my list of disappointments from Apple. I'm considering joining the retro crowd and going back to life before a smart phone. Taking my life back! lol
really need this export feature, I need to organize enties in Notion.
additionally, having a Journal App for Mac, integrated with Notes, would also be greatly beneficial.
Looks like a great app but despite its potential without the ability to easily transfer my valuable journal via export I'm out!
Not at this time but I would imagine that is in the works.
As many have stated, the Journal app was underwhelming at release. No import/export of data, no way to print journal, no iPad/Mac support, and a myriad of other features missing.
I understand they have deadlines to meet, but don’t release something that isn’t ready for prime time. I used it for 30 seconds, which was long enough to realize I’m better off doing what I’ve always done to journal - write it in the Pages app.
No export? Non-starter. Violates the a critical design principle: allowing for data export so your work is not trapped in a proprietary locker. Apple, what are you thinking? I liked the interface but just deleted the app from my phone due to lack of exporting. Maybe I will try it when I can export.
Won’t use this nice app until I can export or print. Why they launched this before having this imperative feature is crazy. Sorry Apple, I cant let you own the details of my nefarious comings and goings. Shame on you for assuming I would.
It would be nice to export your old journals (eg from a world trip) into a readable or publishable format
I could understand if a startup in the early 20th century launched this app with no exporting capability. It does have a beautiful interface and suggestions from your calendar, etc. But for the biggest company in the digital world to do this? Can it really be that hard?
Agreed - lack of ability to export into PDF (at least) is a total dealbreaker. Why invest your heart into something with no future? Apple come on now, obviously you calculated this but why?
Other Journal App features I would love:
I found an export workaround, but it’s a pain: You take screenshots of the entries you want to keep. Then you can (a) export all of them as a group to iBooks, which you can then email to yourself as PDFs; (b) or print; or (c) upload to a photo book service. Both have distinct disadvantages but are better than nothing!
This is also very concerning to me. I was super excited about this app, entered all my journal entries I had on a random notes app into this new app but realized there isn’t a way to print or export. I worry about losing all my entries. Please provide a way to export!!
Yeah I’m incredibly hesistant to use the app as there’s no way to export entries if the app gets taken down or I switch platforms
