How do I export Journal app entries to html or rtf?

I like to know if there is a way to export entries from the new Apple journal app to some sort of standard compliant format such as html or even rtf.

I intended to use the app but changed my mind when I discovered you can’t print or export entries. Apple please fix this.

You can cut and paste as well as copy to clipboard. Just tap a word then tap again. The word will highlight and you will get options to expand the highlighted text. Select all and a menu will appear at the top of the screen. Scroll thru the menu to Share. Share to wherever you want. It only applies to text but at least your work will be saved.

It is one thing to protect intruders but at the same time if the lock doesn’t allow the user flexibility no one will use the app/feature. I wanted to put my journal into print as a book of days but find that the giant (Apple) has swallowed the key. Legacy is an important component when journaling our lives are short but meaningful. Please think of Ann Frank or journaling of any author. Documents in print are still of vital importance. I see that most complaints on the feed are asking for this option. Please enable a button that allows various ways to share and print.

I was so excited when I heard Apple was rereasing a journal app, but as others have stated, missing features make it rather underwhelming at present. No ability to export entries. In addition, there doesn't seem to be any way to import entries, so if you're coming from another journaling app or solution, you'll need to keep that app or solution around if you want access to your past content. I'm also really surprised that Apple hasn't yet made this app available on the Mac, or even the iPad as there are times when journaling would be far easier with a keyboard or larger screen. I know it's just the beginning though, so I'd love to see Apple go somewhere with this, it's going to be a long wait though if the only timess this will be updated is with iOS versions.

I know exactly how to get around this. Is for people like me that like to think outside the box.

all you have to do is turn on your record screen button. And then you go to Journal, and simply scroll down or up through all the journal notes you want and record thus creating a video of your journal notes.

you can then just share your video to whomever you please.

not true documentation yet. I bet you there is a way that you can get your phone to read off the information and store it. Then have a playback of the recording until your phone to export it to text.

This is only useful for text-only and one page at a time. A very manual process and it isn’t capturing the photos.

Hopefully Apple will develop a nice way to export the whole journal in a pleasing format (including the photos.) It would be a better option for alternative uses and a more personal ownership of the content, instead of being locked up:

What's worse is backup is OFF by default. So if you migrate to a new phone and didn't know this, your data will not transfer to the new device.

If you use the automatic transfer tools that Apple provides, not having a backup won't affect that.

But you should ALWAYS have a backup. And yes, it's your data and you need to make sure that happens.

Wow thanks wizard, except I can’t export them to photos. I would never intentionally use an app that traps data solely on my phone.

I know you can't export them from Journal to Photos. I'm suggesting that in the future, you save photos and videos to the Photos app. From the Photos app, you can easily share or export things. And, less directly, I was suggesting that you see what features an app offers before committing important data to it, especially when you're using it in a way that it wasn't intended to be used.

And I think your auto correct made a mistake. The name is Idris, not "wizard".
