How do I export Journal app entries to html or rtf?
I like to know if there is a way to export entries from the new Apple journal app to some sort of standard compliant format such as html or even rtf.

Not possible!!! Huge flaw in the design. Disappointed tremendously in Apple for this HUGE oversight.
Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:
Note that they will not reply.
Meanwhile, take a look at Day One. It's a far superior app.

I was so excited when I heard Apple was rereasing a journal app, but as others have stated, missing features make it rather underwhelming at present. No ability to export entries. In addition, there doesn't seem to be any way to import entries, so if you're coming from another journaling app or solution, you'll need to keep that app or solution around if you want access to your past content. I'm also really surprised that Apple hasn't yet made this app available on the Mac, or even the iPad as there are times when journaling would be far easier with a keyboard or larger screen. I know it's just the beginning though, so I'd love to see Apple go somewhere with this, it's going to be a long wait though if the only timess this will be updated is with iOS versions.

Not at this time but I would imagine that is in the works.
As many have stated, the Journal app was underwhelming at release. No import/export of data, no way to print journal, no iPad/Mac support, and a myriad of other features missing.
I understand they have deadlines to meet, but don’t release something that isn’t ready for prime time. I used it for 30 seconds, which was long enough to realize I’m better off doing what I’ve always done to journal - write it in the Pages app.

I am deeply chagrined that I didn’t realize one could neither search, nor cut&paste, nor export using Journal. Not only does it make future use of the app pointless, but I have deleted photos after adding them to entries. Now they are gone forever.
i never would have expected Apple to come up with such a flawed application.

How to export an iPhone journal file to a contact
As has been stated repeatedly in the four pages of this thread, that's not possible.

You can't. Apple won't allow it. This is why everyone is complaining to Apple to fix the problem. Please write to Apple. Others on this forum have left a link to be able to do this. Product Feedback - Apple
I found an export workaround, but it’s a pain: You take screenshots of the entries you want to keep. Then you can (a) export all of them as a group to iBooks, which you can then email to yourself as PDFs; (b) or print; or (c) upload to a photo book service. Both have distinct disadvantages but are better than nothing!
I wish that I could export or save or copy or whatever my journal entries. What I do is I “select all” in the entry, and then paste it into a Pages/Word document. I really like Journal, so this way I still get to use it but it’s just a whole lot of extra work to copy it. I only use it really once a week, so it’s not too much.
But Apple please fix this!!
I agree with all the folks who are disappointed in the limited ability to export journal entries. I did find a way to "message" a single journal entry text and pictures. The journal entry does provide a way to copy all the text (copy all). This can be pasted into a "note". That note can be messaged to an individual or group. So my process was to include the photos I wanted to send with the "copy" of the text. I found that the text was "center aligned" and off to the left but was easily shifted to the right in the "note" (finger on the text shifts it). I posted this "note" to a group and those with iphones were able to view both the pictures and text.
No export? Non-starter. Violates the a critical design principle: allowing for data export so your work is not trapped in a proprietary locker. Apple, what are you thinking? I liked the interface but just deleted the app from my phone due to lack of exporting. Maybe I will try it when I can export.
Of course there is, at least for text. Here's how you do it. Go to the entry, select, edit, press gently twice on any word and expand the select window to include all, look up in the top of the screen, and you will see a menu box, slide the menu box to the end and there it is share!
You can cut and paste as well as copy to clipboard. Just tap a word then tap again. The word will highlight and you will get options to expand the highlighted text. Select all and a menu will appear at the top of the screen. Scroll thru the menu to Share. Share to wherever you want. It only applies to text but at least your work will be saved.

The Journal app is really lacking of basic features as so many in this string have mentioned. I’m holding out for those features to materialize. Also need a means to search. Let’ s hear from apple with some expected dates to make this app useful/useable,

I found a way around it. Turn on screen recording, go to your journal entry and let it record while you swipe down (slowly enough so that people can read it) or long enough for the audio/video to end (if you used A/V instead of writing). Then stop and play back or send the screen recording wherever you want!!
