Why did Apple move the ` key next to the Z?

I had to replace my black key keyboard as I wore it out in 6 months, not as robust as the white keyboards. and I get the replacement and I notice Apple moved the `~ key to the left of the Z, so I hit that every time I try to hit shift and I have to tell you its one of the most annoying changes Apple has made.

Also the return is tiny and I am hitting the \ key all the time. Anyone know why this was done? I am going to sell it, I type all day and this is effecting my ability to compose. Back to the white one...\
