QuickTime Recording - Firewire capture of HDV Video tape - "The Operation could not be completed"

I'm trying to record from an HDV source, via FireWire using Quicktime, Max resolution. When the clip ends on the tape, QT stops and has an error "This operation could not be completed".

I can stop early - which is a pain and does not capture everything I want - and can save it.

How do I solve this error?

What I like about capture with QT vs iMovie is that it keeps it all in a single "scene" without splitting it up into sections that I have to piece back together.

Thanks

Latest MacOS; Studio Ultra. Firewire cables are new including new FW adapter and TBT 2 > TBT 3 adapter all from Apple.
