Unable to Access Comcast/Xfinity Email after Password Change

I have been unable to access Comcast/Xfinity email after a forced password change for 1 of my several Comcast email accounts.

The "official" response about this issue that several Outlook and Apple Mail customers are having is, of course that it's not a Comcast/Xfinity problem, that the problem lies solely with the 3rd Party Email application.

I have of course made efforts to change the password in the appropriate places in Apple Mail, yet I still get error messages like "Connections to the server “smtp.comcast.net” on the default ports timed out."

I'm curious if Apple has had many calls about this issue and whether anything is or will be done to resolve yet another mess that Comcast/Xfinity has made.

Is anyone else having this issue after being forced to change their password?

Although this link was initiated by an Outlook user, other Apple users have come forward. No solution has been found yet although Comcast is stating is has.: Xfinity Forum Discussion

Hello sswinery, I posted the solution I found and was basically provided to me by a Comcast/Xfinity TS person. It's not an optimal solution, but it did work. Basically you'll have to make sure your emails will reside on the Xfinity server with a setting and then go and delete your email account from Apple Mail, then recreate it again. It's definitely not optimal because in my case it took several hours for the account's mail to populate and if you've got a ton of spam on the Xfinity side server that you've never dealt with, you'd need to do that 1st unless you want that dumping back into your Apple mail account (again). The other issue is that if you've read and flagged emails in Apple Mail, that basically gets wiped away and every email is considered "NEW" until you deal with it in some way. On the plus side, you should have your system working again. This is all after you've created a new Xfinity password and likely your 2FA settings there as well.
