Macbook Pro 15" (A1211) Battery Won't Charge

Battery won't charge. I've tried multiple chargers, replaced the battery and even replaced the PRAM battery.

The computer works as long as it's plugged in.

I've run the diagnostics with the battery in and out of the computer. I don't think a single thing changed. Somehow it's booted up and running with 0 V from the adapter and a reported 0% battery capacity (with or without battery).

Funny how they distributed this diagnostic software on CD but couldn't manage to fit a tiny text file with error code definitions on it.

Searching arround it looks like it might be a sensor error related to battery temperature but I can't find any more information or, most importantly, a way to fix it.

Can anyone provide any more information or suggestions?

TIA

PS: sorry for the moiré over the images. Those are "real" screenshots. The error code reads "4SNS/1/40000000:TBOT" and the model is "MacBookPro2,2" I guess they printed A1211 on the bottom of the computer for fun.

SNS is a system Temperature sensor for the Battery— take it in if you want it repaired. Apple will refuse this obsolete machine.
