Windows outlook icloud calendar sync plus 1 hour

Hey Guys,

I'm currently battling an issue while viewing my iCloud calendar in Microsoft outlook for windows.

I have the iCloud app from the Microsoft store to sync my Contacts and Calendar as per the recommended method.

Set up iCloud Mail, Contacts and Calendar in Outlook on your Windows computer – Apple Support (AU)

This does work, in that I can see my iCloud calendar in outlook, and all of my events sync back and forth almost immediately, except for one little issue...Any event that I create in the calendar app on my phone then syncs to outlook +1 hour ahead of the time scheduled.

I stumbled upon a workaround from the Spiceworks community which was to set your timezone override in calendar settings on your iPhone to a different city in your same timezone.

E.g. Lisbon to London, San Francisco to Vancouver, Perth to Beijing.

My best guess as to the underlying issue is that you've incorrectly assumed daylight saving is happening in places that it isn't or vice versa for other regions. I will be able to confirm this hypothesis in April when it goes back 1hr in the states adjacent to mine.

The problem with this workaround is that it does not work for anyone travelling multiple timezones.

It also doesn't affect existing events, so you'd need to manually correct each of them.

In summary:

New events created in outlook sync to iCloud calendar with the correct time and timezone.

New events created in calendar app for iOS appear in outlook +1 hour from the time selected.

Manually changing them in outlook works fine and doesn't change the phone's original event.
