organizing imported photos by date taken

After switching from Samsung to iPhone 2 years ago I imported my photos and after transferring over the photos they where all out of sink in regards to the dates taken. All the meta data is there because if I look at a photo information it shows the actual dates. I have literally tried everything! The other thing that makes me want to pull my hair out is when you create an album to help organize it just adds duplicates to the library and those are out of sink!!! It just makes photos so frustrating when looking for a certain photo and everything is scrambled mess. What am I missing and is there a way to fix this?

When you add a photo to an album, the photos in the albums are no duplicates. The albums are not storing photos, they are just holding references to the photos in the library. Each photo is only stored once in Photos, even if it has been added to many albums.

Have you tried to collect your photos in a new album and then use the command "Sort > Oldest first" while viewing the album? The Sort command should be in the menu with the three dots in the upper right corner.
