What is this? It shows up on the watch every time I wake my phone now.

If you hold your watch at the top of your iPhone it will pick it up as part of the together mode so you can share pictures, contacts etc. If you don’t want it on you can turn it off: go to your phone settings, type in airdrop & it’s within those settings & is called “Bring devices together”where you can turn it off
Just happened to me. Sitting alone scrolling my phone, watch vibrated and it was this. Can’t even find anything by reverse image lookup with your images. So weird. iOS 17.3, iPhone 14 Pro, Watch 10.3

It definitely was the NameDrop feature for me. Once I turned it off I had no further issues.
Yes and getting the animation without engaging with another ID must be a bug
I see this randomly before the two watch faces. Anyone work out what it is yet? I only have one phone and one watch.
Airdrop (Namedrop) was my issue too, definitely.

If you are worried about the animation the author shows then the responses above show you how to turn it off
If it is of no use to you then turn it off as instructed above.
Mine is a little different, I have an ultra but mine shows the watch faces touching face to face, but mine were purple also? I was concerned it was someone near hacking my watch????
No it is contact sharing, not Apple Pay!
