microsoft office won't load
New macbook. bought microsoft office for mac and installed it but the apps won't open or let me do anything

As you have purchased the software, and whoever you bought it from, the download will come from Microsoft, I suggest Microsoft Support will have the answer. I have found the Chat option efficient. A redownload may work. It is possible inadvertently to download the Windows version, so it may be worth looking in Applications (open in Finder), identify the Microsoft applications, and select "Get Info". Check that they show "Kind: Application (Universal)".
