Timer sound continues playing after quitting Clock app

Check Notification Center by clicking on the time in the top right of the menubar. There you will see a Timer notification with a drop-down menu where you can select Stop.

I have the same problem ('22 Sonoma 14.5 Macbook Air) . Sometimes it works fine, other times not. The thing that works is pressing the power button for about a second. This brings up the clock banner to click on it to turn it off.

Also, annoyingly, hitting Enter doesn't start a timer after inputting time. You have to tab to the Start button and hit Spacebar, which is very user unfriendly.

A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies.

then Reboot as normal and compare your results

Maybe not close the lid when the timer is going off(?) I don't know, try something differnt.

I tried that, but the old timer alarm was just replaced by the new one
