After updating from IOS16 to 17, the SMB server connection is the Files App first fails and after a 2nd attempt apparently works but then the SMB server appears “Empty”. Running out of options here.

After updating to iOS 17.2.1 the Files App shows the SMB server content properly again. Apparently the iOS 17 related bug has been fixed with 17.2.1.
When connecting the SMB server, the following error message shows: “The operation van’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred. Try your operation again. If that fails, quit and relaunch the application and try again.” After a 2nd attempt without above error message, the SMB server shows “is Empty”.
The phenomenon I'm experiencing is exactly as you describe. The 17.2.1 didn't fix it for me.
This issue is occurring after updating to 17.2.1 for me as well.
