drjzimm, sounds like maybe you have an older version of Mac OS. Also if you have had this problem since 2013, I'm guessing it is caused by something else and unchecking the "Use advanced tracking and fingerprinting protection" box wouldn't solve your problem anyway. Maybe you could start a new thread with more details about your exact problem.

drjzimm. That may be true, unfortunately. It's probably unrelated, but several friends have decided to upgrade their Mac computers because they could no longer view the Wordpress based web page for our organization in Safari. In one case this was avoided for a while by using Firefox or Chrome instead of Safari.

About two years ago, I upgraded to a MacBook Air M1. The difference in performance compared to my older Intel MacBook Pro was astounding! So if you do get a new Mac with an Apple processor, I think you will be pleased with the improvements.

Rather than changing security settings for Safari - you're much better off temporarily changing your default browser to Chrome. Connect your gmail to Mac. Then change your default browser back to Safari.

Firefox has the same issue as Safari.

looking back over the thread, this appears to be an issue for a lot of folks. But the solution in this thread is for more up-to-date operating systems. The setting you ask about, is in the latest version of MoacOS

I’ll try that but I’ve already replaced safari by Firefox as default browser and when trying to create Google account it keeps launching Safari. So it doesn’t work.
