Notes “autocorrect” corrupts handwriting

Notes presumptuously “corrects” my handwriting at times. This most often happens when I’m writing mathematical notation. For example Notes changes an upper case Greek sigma to a capital C. How can I stop Notes from making ANY changes to my handwriting? I’m an adult and can use a pen.

period is correcting to a small x on notes I am having a very unusual issue with my notes. I am trying to type a period, but it is coming up as a small x. This is only happening when the period is at the very end of the screen before it tries to go onto another line. When I try to copy and paste the same sentence with the period, it also changes it to the small x. Please help. [Edited by Moderator]

Can’t disable spell check on my handwritten notes in the notes app. Help… iPadOS 18 iPad Pro M1 since the update when I handwrite notes in the notes app it tries to autocorrect my handwriting and the prompt never goes away so my notes have random blue dotted lines all over, frustrating visual clutter. Tried turning off spell correct and it didn’t work. Refine handwriting being turned off doesn’t affect it either. I can only get rid of it when I tap on one of the suggestions but that makes the handwriting look terrible which I think is a bug, or it doesn’t have a suggestion for the word at all.

Apple Notes: Auto-Refine Handwriting Stopped Working 2 Days Ago Auto-refine handwriting has been working on my M2 12.9 iPad Pro since updating to 18.2 until yesterday. Now when I try to toggle the setting back on, where the toggle button should be it says "Support for improving handwriting legibility will download when connected to WiFi." even though I am connected to WiFi. And, just so we're clear, all other WiFi related things work fine with the iPad. I am receiving emails. I can surf the web. My Apple Notes are syncing with my computer and phone via iCloud. In an effort to remedy this I have done the following: Turned WiFi off and back on. Turned Airplane mode off and back on. Quit out of Apple Notes. Started a new note. Restarted my iPad Pro (on two different occasions). None of this has remedied the issue. I still see the same message. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this issue? As I said, this feature was working great until 2 days ago.
