I have been using iphone 15 pro on my audi with audi MMI for appx 6 months but after the latest update, the phone has stopped connecting to car through apple car play. If I plug in the cable, neither the phone charges nor the apple car pay interface appears. Surprisingly, my wife's iphone 11 with same OS, work perfectly fine. If I do a network reset, then it connects the first time but stops working the next time. So, to connect again, I have to again reset the network setting. I strongly feel this is some software issue with Apple and I hope they give fix for it soon.

iPhone 15 Pro Max with an older Audi MMi 3G system.

All worked well until I switched from an iPhone XS to an iPhone 15 Prio Max.

It connects when I start the car, I can initiate a call or be called but only after a few seconds the Bluetooth connection drops and the phone is disconnected. I need to reconnect the bluetooth connection for it to work again, after which it will fail again. Sometimes I can talk for minutes, sometimes just a few seconds.

I think it has to do with the backwards bluetooth compatibility.

Did everything I can think of.

Reset iPhone, reset network settings, reset iPhone to factory default, used different pro max (drops connection), used old phone (all ok), removed iPhone from car, gave it and the car a different name, still the same issue.

Was going to buy Iphone 15 Pro tomorrow and just found this forum by accident and now don't know..should I buy it or no..or wait..I have as well Audi A7 2011 and music / podcasts from Iphone via bluetooth is the first thing I do when start the car. I`m going to stay on old Iphone 13 if this important thing will not be sorted.

Apple move your ... and get this sorted asap.

Have you tried troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue? Sometimes when upgrading to a new phone model, compatibility issues can arise. Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your iPhone 15 Pro Max and your Audi MMI system.
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth, find your Audi MMI in the list of devices, and tap the "i" icon next to it. Then select "Forget This Device." After that, try to re-pair your iPhone with your car's Bluetooth system.
  3. Make sure your Audi MMI system is compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Check for any available updates for the car's firmware that might address compatibility issues with newer phones.
  4. If possible, try resetting your Audi MMI system to its factory settings. This might help in establishing a fresh connection with your iPhone.
  5. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  6. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  7. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

I am a new Audi Q5e owner and speaking with a couple of friends who have Audis, the problem seems to be an issue between the Apple/Audi interface due to software updates. Seems one always lags the other.

My issue is phone connects fine, but MMI either goes blank randomly or stops playing the radio, reverting to the CarPlay screen. Other features like lane keeping and some others too are being affected intermittently, which can be dangerous.

Resetting MMI resolves the issue, but always not for more than a day or two.

Strongly feel Audi needs to work closely with Apple on the interface to avoid a bad rep.

Some BMW owners have also reported this issue, which keeps unpairing their iPhone.

Above are just some examples of my experience in the 1st month of ownership. I will be reporting all to the dealer once I get all my experiences together.

1-2-3 done

4 - You're kidding right...do you how much effort setting everything all over again is and these "reset" functions almost never work. Previous iPhones all worked. Not trying this almost knowing for certain it will not help.

5 done

6 tried it even with a new iPhone 15 Pro Max immediately after setup of the phone. Both iPhone 15's have issue and bluetooth of the car all worked fine up to and including iPhone 14 Pro Max (of a friend of mine). So it almost for certain has to be with physical HW. I have tried a phone with same bluetooth adapter as iPhone 15 and that worked.

7 all done

A new issue arose today - after iOS 17.4 update. It seems calls are not dropped (for now), but when I hang up the phone, the car kit still says I am connected..but the iPhone has no open call anymore. Something is definitely off with the bluetooth commands of the iPhone to the carkit.

I have installed my Iphone15 successfully with one caveat...There is no text recognition on the "media, calls, maps, etx. screen of the AudiQ7. I reached out to Audi for assistance and they don't seem to know an update software compatibility timeline.

They recommended Apple Car Play, but that is not okay with me as I want to remain hands free at alll times with no chords, plus the new plug is not compatible with the vehicle. In order to do that I will need an apple compatible charging plug to purchase in order to utilize the car and the phone together...

Please help with timelines above...
