There's a white line on my new iPad Pro's lock screen

On a new iPad Pro 11 m2, when swipe up from bottom of lock screen, to unlock device, a white vertical line appears. Apple replaced with a new ipad and the replacement device does the exact same thing. You can see the lines in a screenshot, I believe that means a possible software issue. Have tried changing wallpapers and resetting device, and line still appears. Also line is sometimes black (seems dependant on wallpaper). Lines do not appear on any home page or within any app. Any ideas please?

In the end changing wallpaper worked for me after talking to support. Added a new wallpaper, checked it didn't have the line and then changed back to the original wallpaper and it was fixed. Def a software issue and I suspect some weird widget related thing.

There’s been some people posting here this issue since January 2024. I initially thought it was an iOS update, somewhere in the 17.x series since that’s when it started for me on my old iPad and now on my new iPad.

In one search I found reference to a feature in the accessibility functions. I can’t recall what it was but I checked and that feature was already shut off. It still may have to do with the iOS but might depend on one feature being on when another is off and this conflict creates the vertical line. I cannot remember what changes I’ve made over the years they’ve added so many I have no use for.

Mine was when swiping on the right side the line would appear on the right (if I swiped on a certain part of the left side the line wouldn't appear). It seems like some sort of software glitch. A month or so ago I noticed the line stopped appearing (it never seemed to affect any functionality of the ipad). Hope the same happens with yours.

Can I ask, did you get to the bottom of this? My 2024 iPad Air has just started doing exactly the same thing. It isn't a major thing as it is just on the lock screen - so far. As I swipe down on the left half of the screen a thin white line draws down on the right.

It does it in landscape too so it isn't a hardware screen issue - probably.

Weird glitch or sign of a future failure?

This was happening to my iPad Air gen 4 (3.5 years old) when I swiped up to access the passcode. It was running the latest iOS, which I think was 17.5 or 17.6. I did a quick search and the issue appeared to be hardware, specifically the screen. So I figured it had something to do with the age and amount of use of the iPad over the years (probably 8 hrs a day).

Time for a new one so I bought the new iPad Air 2024. Same problem. I think it shipped with iOS 17.5 as it required an update. It doesn’t happen every time and it disappears too quickly for me to grab a screen image.

I hope they resolve it soon.
