Side by side docs in word

How can I display 2 separate documents side by side in word? I’m trying to rewrite from an outline and want to have the reference in front of me while I’m writing my rough draft.

Pages: Selecting Multiple Sections Learning how to use Apple's Pages. One thing that I can't figure out is how to select multiple items/sections. In Microsoft Word, the equivalent would be to select one item/section, and then press and hold "Control" ("Command") while you click to include other items/sections in the selection. This allows me to select multiple, disjoint sections for copying, editing, etc. and is quite useful. Does Pages have a similar function?

Open multiple instance of same pages document? Is it possible to have multiple instances of the same Apple Pages document open on my Mac? *NOT multiple users on different devices or the same user on different devices. The usage scenario sought is having for example two instances of an Apple Pages document open on the same Mac. On one it's to read/refer to notes, while editing the document in another window. I know MS Word offers this but I can't find a way to do it in pages. Does that exist in Apple Pages yet? Yes, it's possible to create another file but this would create additional steps, wasted time, file redundancy, reduced simplicity & focus, etc. That's not what I'm looking for. Just one document seen through two separate windows/instances on the same Mac.
