Virus

While I was in Safari, I was on a website that I haven't used before. All of a sudden, an alert claiming to be coming from Apple said that I had to download this vpn in the App Store to clear the 14 viruses that had been installed. I only clicked how to resolve it, and that's when it took me to the App Store. I didn't download the app. Is this fake, what should I do? Also, this is on an iPhone 15 Pro with the latest software update.

Apple will never send a message like this, so you know that this.....and any other similar messages like this.....are SCAMS that are trying to trick you into spending money to buy useless software.

Just ignore / delete the messages as they appear.

NEVER tap or click on a link in any message like this.....even if it appears to look legitimate.
