Blurry top of wallpaper

I made a new wallpaper and now the top photo is blurred. Also, it is blurred a very light colour so I can’t see the signal or battery percentage. Why do this, Apple? Don’t fix things that aren’t broken. And it seems it’s not even an option that can be turned off! Also, some are saying it’s because the wallpaper does not stretch that far, which is rubbish - mine IS long enough.
