Unsync (unlink) Mini Mac and MacBook Air

I've read and understand the instructions as far as going to settings...etc BUT do I do that on the Mac Mini or on the MacBook Air?

How to view files by connecting MacBook Pro and iMac How do I connect another computer on my network to look at files. I have a MacBook pro connected by wifi. The iMac is connected by ethernet. If you do this to one of them they will not be connected
