These messages about the "cloud" are not connected with your Apple ID-- they just send the messages to everybody and then hope that someone will respond. Even if only a tiny fraction respond, they can get thousands of hits.


You can cut down on spam mail by using filters. If you're using Apple Mail, this may help:

But the fact is, they keep changing their "from" email address, so it's hard to keep up.


One helpful technique when you get a suspicious email, is to check who it's really from. In Apple Mail you can click on


the little V arrow next to the sender's name, and check the email address. You might see something like "Appple.com" that looks almost right but, looking closer, isn't. However, this is not totally foolproof, so you should still be careful. I often get emails from relatives and acquaintances who aren't-- the names are right but it's not them.


Probably just opening the email won't hurt, but don't click on anything in the email!
