iCloud storage

My old photos have disappeared.

Does Apple send notice before it deletes old photos when storage space on iCloud is nearing the allowed maximum?

Apple does not delete items from iCloud when storage is full. It will only stop uploading any more photos to icloud.

Any photos already on iCloud will remain there, unless you downgrade to a lower iCloud Storage tier.

They will not tell you when photos are deleted, then will send an email to your Apple ID email address telling you that your storage is full or near capacity. It is up to you to act on it immediately to avoid data loss.
