Does the iPhone XR with current updates 17.1.2 connect to 5G Wi-Fi?

Does the I phone Xr with current updates 17.1.2 connect to 5G Wi-Fi or am I stuck with 2.4G wifi

You may be confusing 5Ghz Wi-Fi with 5G Cellular service.

The iPhone XR supports 5Ghz Wi-Fi but does not support 5G Cellular service. The 5G Cellular service is available on iPhones 12 and newer models.

I believe that your iPhone XR connects to 5Ghz (Gigahertz) Wi-Fi. It will never connect to a 5G (5th Generation) Cellular service.

Well I changed my ssid to make my networks custom I have 2.4G and 5G networks and it shows I can connect to both the 2.4 G tested at 26mbps download and 5mbps upload

now on the 5G network it tested at 68mbps download and 9mbps upload how is this possible then ??? I would like to know what’s going on thx

5 GHz WiFi support started with the iPhone 12 models. Sorry, your phone is too old. This is a hardware limitation, nothing to do with the iOS version.
