How can I turn off voice messaging inside iMessage? I’m not talking about dictation. That setting is off. I mean the ability to accidentally hit the sound icon to the right side of the message prompt. It is way too easy to accidentally hit that while reading someone’s message and then randomly sending them everything my mic pics up.

There is no option to completely remove the red icon beside the message field. However, it would be convenient to have an option to turn it off completely, as I also sometimes mistakenly start a voice recording. What you can do to lessen the chances of accidentally recording a voice message is to turn off the Raise to Listen option, or turn on the Dictation option, which will replace the red icon with a microphone. Thank you for this clarification about pressing the microphone image BELOW the keyboard. That did it for me.
Apple has truly jumped the shark. The only reason I am not switching to android is my iCloud pictures, contacts are hard to transfer to android.
