iPhone 12 Pro Max connects to Prius 2024 for CarPlay, then next day requires restart to connect again.

I have a new 2024 Prius. I had no problem connecting to it with my iPhone 12 Pro Max via Bluetooth and enabling CarPlay. However, the next day, I get "connection failed" and the only way I've found around it is to restart the iPhone. After that, Bluetooth connects again. If I turn off the car briefly (up to a couple of hours) and restart it, it remains connected, but overnight, it *always* disconnects and requires that I restart my iPhone. This despite that the car shows on the iPhone's Bluetooth settings screen, and the phone appears on the Prius's devices screen.

My guess is that it's some sort of timeout issue, but I have no clue how to get around it. Help would be appreciated. Please note that I *know* how to regain connectivity, but I want to achieve it *without* having to reboot my iPhone every time (if, instead of rebooting, I try "forget this device" and then try to reconnect, it does *not* work--and is also unnecessarily laborious). Finally, my iPhone has all the updates, and the Toyota app (latest version) is running.

Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:

  1. iPhone Settings:
    1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This action clears saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth connections, and VPN settings. Reconnect to your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices afterward.
    2. Remove the Prius from your iPhone's Bluetooth settings, restart your iPhone, and then pair the devices again.
    3. In your iPhone's Settings app, navigate to General > CarPlay. Find your Prius and remove it. Reconnect your iPhone to the car's CarPlay system.
  2. Prius Settings:
    1. In the Prius, remove your iPhone from the paired devices list. Restart the car's infotainment system and pair the iPhone again.
    2. Ensure that your Prius's infotainment system is running the latest software version. Sometimes, updates can resolve connectivity issues.
  3. Other Suggestions:
    1. If you're using a cable for CarPlay, ensure it's in good condition and try using a different cable or port.
    2. Ensure this feature isn't causing any interference. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb > Do Not Disturb While Driving and set it to Manual.
    3. Allow background app refresh for the CarPlay-related apps on your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
    4. If the issue persists, reach out to Toyota Customer Service. They might have specific insights or updates about your devices and your car's compatibility.

If these steps don't resolve the problem, it might be worthwhile to check for any specific updates from Apple or Toyota that address this connectivity issue. Sometimes, a software update might be in the works to fix compatibility issues between certain iPhone models and car systems.
