Getting Sales tax back when returning an iPhone

I bought an iPhone 15 just 10 days ago but I regretted not getting the iPhone 15 pro, so I’m thinking about going to the store and ask for an exchange. According to apple policy I get a full refund or I can go to any Apple Store in the country for an exchange within 20 days of the purchase. However I bought the iPhone in Texas where I payed 8.25% in Sales Tax and want to exchange it in Detroit. Do I get the whole sales tax back in the exchange process?

You will get your full refund back including tax within 14 days of purchase. It will be a 2 step process where you will get a refund first, then can make another purchase if you want to. The exchange is not a policy they have, just the refund, so if you purchase another device after getting the refund you can call it an exchange, but that is up to you.
