Dictanote instead of Dragon

Owing to a creeping disability, I need software for dictation into Microsoft 365 apps including Outlook and Word as well as message and social media services.

I understand the leading Nuance dictation app Dragon is not available for Mac.

The advice site AlternativeTo says: "Nuance Dragon is not available for Mac but there are plenty of alternatives that run on macOS with similar functionality. The best Mac alternative is Dictanote"

What's your experience with Dictanote?

"Start Dictation" option not available under the Edit menu in MacOS MY “START DICTATION” HAS DISAPPEARED. IT USED TO BE UNDER THE EDIT BUTTON BUT DISAPPEARED AFTER THE LATEST UPDATE. PLEASE HELP. Dictation not working - Mac Ventura 13.4.1 Is there any fix for this? I've seen many posts and most people have given up after trying the settings changes and even deleting the plist. Dictation has never worked on my MacBook "pro."
