Is there a way to disable autoplay on Apple Music in my car?

Apple Music will automatically start playing in my car. The problem is I use Spotify not Apple Music. What does exist in my music App Library is a random amalgamation of demos and mixes I’ve exported to my phone which I don’t need other people hearing. Especially if I’m mixing for someone else I don’t want my friends listening to songs that aren’t released yet when they get in my car. I’ve looked at other instructions online and I can only get as far as opening up the playing next menu but there is not any option to turn off autoplay. I don’t know what to do. Please help.

This is a mind numbingly awful set of suggestions. The “issue” is 100% an iOS software setting problem. It doesn’t matter what make or model the car is, or even if it’s a car at all. The moment an iOS device sees a Bluetooth device it has previously connected to, the device will start playing music to it. I can turn on a JBL flip, or boom box. Or a set of Bluetooth earbuds, or even a Bluetooth amplifier in my home. And within a minute or so the device will be playing music from my device even if I wasn’t already doing so. The app can be completely shut down and not running and the music will still play. This doesn’t matter if hand off is on or off, if auto play on any of the devices is on or off. It needs to be a toggle setting within the iOS operating system. This has been the one long running complaint of iPhone users going back to the first gen iPhones. It is not the car makers, or the speaker / devices makers. It is Apple apple apple all day…

To resolve the issue of Apple Music automatically playing in your car, you can try these steps:

1. Disable Handoff on iPhone: This feature can cause Apple Music to start playing automatically when you get into your car.

• Go to Settings.

• Tap General.

• Select AirPlay & Handoff.

• Turn off Handoff.

2. Bluetooth Settings in Car: Check your car’s Bluetooth settings. Some vehicles have an autoplay option that can be disabled.

3. Use a Silent Track:

• Download a short, silent track and add it to your Apple Music library.

• Rename it so that it appears first alphabetically.

• When you start your car, this silent track will play first, giving you time to switch to Spotify.

4. Delete Unwanted Tracks: If there are tracks in your Apple Music that you don’t want to play, consider removing them from your library.

5. Check for iOS Updates: Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, as updates can sometimes fix these issues.

6. Contact Car Manufacturer: If the issue persists, contact your car’s manufacturer for specific guidance on the car’s media system settings.

Remember, the availability of certain settings can vary based on the iPhone model and iOS version. If these steps don’t help, contacting Apple Support directly might provide more specific solutions for your situation.

I agree 100% spot on!! It’s nauseating hearing the same **** song come on every single time you get inside your car!! I no longer even like the song I once loved! I have tried everything to prevent this from happening & nothing has worked for me! I never even had the “handoff” option on & there are irrelevant settings in the iTunes music app. Hopefully deleting the app works!

I finally resolved the issue with the auto play in my new Lexus auto playing the same **** song and playing that song over lecture from another app. I DELETED APPLE MUSIC FROM MY IPHONE. That finally stopped the insanity. No setting change, not even turning off autoplay or repeat on the song work. Every time I played a lecture from my BSF app Fleetwood Mac Sara would play over the lecture making it extremely difficult to listen to the lecture. While I love Apple, they do perceive they are the center of the audio universe. Consequently deletion of the music app was the only thing that worked. Once this occurred problem went away and then subscribed to another music app which does not do this nor plays over other apps. Had other problems with Apple Music also after purchases not downloading my music for DAYS!!!!!! Since I am a bit of an audiophile really considering after over 10 years on Apple to move back to Android.
