Transfering large files from Downloads folder to PC

Trying to transfer some large (over 100mb) pdf files I have downloaded on my phone. Followed apples "advice" using file sharing on itunes but download folder is not listed.

Is there a way to access this folder? Emailing is not an option due to size, and if I require a 3rd party service (dropbox/wetransfer) is just poor engineering.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17

See Use iTunes to share files between your computer and your iOS or iPadOS device - Apple Support. In particular note this section:

What you need for File Sharing

I suspect the on device Downloads location doesn't qualify. Hopefully this is an area that shows in the device's Files app. If so you can use iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox etc. to transfer the files to a location that can be accessed with a web browser for the respective service. See Access and manage your files in iCloud Drive - Apple Support.
