Apple TV 4K (2ND Gen) NZ restore

My apple tv 4k won't start, has flashing lights etc but doesn't load. Apple has designed this product in a way that doesn't let you restore via Mac / PC & support in NZ is non existent. Basically, if you buy this product it is like taking a big gamble. Anyone know how to restore it?

There is a basic set of instructions to fix this at If your Apple TV isn't working, won't turn on, or shows a black screen the last of which is to contact Apple Support

I suspect that last option is your best option.

In Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support (NZ) the phone number for New Zealand is quoted as: 0800 1 27753

Edit - I've just seen your note, posted while I was writing this.

Please call AppleCare, I don't have the number in NZ just clickAppleCare Contact Info to find the phone number. If you have an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider in your area you can take it in. However my guess is its possible it has failed. A 2nd Gen Apple TV is at least 10-12 years old unless of course you meant an Apple TV4K Gen 2 which would make your about 5+ years old I think.

Current model Apple TV's in the USA are only about $125 which translates to about $157, not $300! Also, if Apple sells refurbished units in New Zealand that equates to even less.

When you contact any support entity it is wise to be patient and calm, getting hung up on normally only happens when people are rude or abusive.

Of course what you decide to do is totally up to you though.

Good luck. Also, if you want to provide feedback to Apple please contact them at www.apple.com/feedback. Your idea may be something they have been considering.

Sadly, direct currency conversions are not an indication of the cost of new Apple gear in this part of the world. For NZ, and also here in Australia, the cost is much greater than our North American friends would experience, and NZ costs are even higher than ours.

In New Zealand the two Apple TV 4K models sell at the NZ online store for NZ$279 and NZ$319 which is about US$175 and US$200.

previn83, at the moment Apple TVs are not sold in the online NZ refurbished store at all.
