Iphone 8 and applewatch 6

Apple Watch 6 is not compatible with iphone 8 if watchOS is 10 plus. What will happen if the two is paired at this stage and the apple watch upgrade to 10 plus. Will the pairing be lost?

You won't be able to update it from either the iPhone or watch while they're paired. If you pair the watch to a newer unit and then update, it can't be paired with the iPhone 8 afterwards.
