Which IPhone do I need to pair with an Apple watch Series 10?
Tried pairing with my wife's 1st Gen SE, running IOS 15.8.3, but wouldn't work. Anyone know if there is a workaround to this problem?

Apple Watch Series 10 requires iPhone Xs or later with iOS 18 or later (Apple Watch and iPhone compatibility)

You should contact the official Apple Support directly or visit an Apple Store, some users managed to get their Apple Watch downgraded to be able to pair it to their older iPhone.
Why won't my Apple Watch SE pair with my … - Apple Community
But, this will only be possible, if the originally installed watchOS can pair to your older iOS version on your iPhone.
In case of the Apple Watch 10, which came with watchOS 10, your iPhone has to have at least iOS 17 installed.

Yes, but only if watchOS 11 has already been installed on an Apple Watch, then you will need iOS 18 on your iPhone.
Any iPhone that is updated with the newest software can be paired with the series 10 Apple watches
The most current IOS update is 18.3.1 and I see you mentioned only 15.8.3.
Again my suggestion is to update the phone to the most current software.
I'm not an expert, or I wouldn't be asking these somewhat elementary questions. I did not know that Apple Watches COULD NOT pair with any IPhone...which I obviously have disappointingly just found out. But I question your comment, in that "Any iPhone that is updated with the newest software can be paired..." is apparently NOT TRUE. 15.8.3 IS the newest that a 1st gen SE can upload, as I/we have that system on all six of our iPhone SEs, & it says on the phone we have "the latest software update." When I tried to pair it with the new watch I want to give my wife for her B-day next week, it tried, but then said "Unpairing." So, I guess it is going to be a watch-only, as I have no intention of forking out the $$$ required for an IPhone X. Merci, anyway, JPC, Montmeyan, France
