Apple Pay saying credit card set to expire when still a year until

Every time I try to use Apple Pay to buy a game, app or music I get an alert that my card is about to expire. The card expiration date is a year away. I try deleting the card and re-adding the card but it is attached to two other subscriptions and won’t let me.

is there a bug and if not how does this issue get fixed?
