Issue playing overcooked 2 on steam with MacBook Pro m2 2023

I'm having the same problem, has anyone found a fix?

Having the exact same issue. Was working fine until I updated my OS to Sonoma 14.2.1, already reinstalled the app and everything. I can make it to the menu screen but no input (key presses, clicks) are being registered, while mousing over different buttons works. I figure it must be an issue with input monitoring or an app-specific issue.

Looks like the dev's comment got pushed in the thread (it's on page 2 right now) but I'll copy their post here. (I still recommend checking the steam forums for the answer).

Unfortunately, the latest macOS Sonoma update has caused significant issues with certain apps, impacting Overcooked! 2. Our team is actively investigating, yet we're uncertain if the problem stems from Apple or our end. Regrettably, we cannot provide an ETA for a fix but kindly request that you persist in trying over the next few weeks.

As a temporary solution, kindly switch to the Steam cross-play branch. You can revert to the normal branch once the issue is resolved. Please note that if you use a controller, you may encounter issues when playing with this beta version. To install this version, please try the following steps:

1. Launch your Steam client

2. Right-click on Overcooked! 2 in your Library

3. Select Properties

4. Select the Beta tab from the left-hand panel

5. Next to Beta Participation, there will be a drop-down menu > select the Crossplay branch from here

6. This will now install on your Mac

Once this has been installed, reboot the game and see if the issue persists.

If you would like to play online with friends following this, they will need to follow the above steps and join the Crossplay branch.

Hey I tried this and it works but now I have this error whenever I invite my friends or get invited by one of them

My network connection is fine but no matter what I do there is a network error.

Yo, this workaround from dhrumilp15 works y'all! Fixed my game and controls. Very happy cause my sister and I can play again yay!

Hi! Has this issue been resolved on the mac update? I'm playing on the beta branch but it's incredibly hard to find other online players (takes super long), when will it be fixed so we can switch back to the regular branch? Thanks

If this does not happen with other Mac apps, then your question would be better direct to Steam or the game developer, not Apple or the end-user volunteers who make up these forums. Please let up know if other apps are affected and, if so, which ones.

Asking this here likely means a very long wait for a responder who plays the same game under Steam.

I am not brushing you off, but rather trying to point you to the fastest and most effective help based on my 20+ years of participating here. There is little game support here, and Apple does not answer posts in this setting.

Yes and no, If you are invited through Steam I still get the network error message however, when sent a friend request and then an invite through the T17 network from in the game I can get into a lobby with my friends. Use the in-game user name, which should look like (Example#0000) I hope this helps others.

having the exact same problem as well but I'm on MacBook Air m2, couldn't force quit the app either, so I had to restart the Mac
