Add Apple Care To Iphone Without Doing It On The Phone?

Long story short, got the misses an iPhone 15 Pro Max, Natural Titanium, 1TB for Christmas, however for some odd reason she doesn't want to add Apple care even though I offered to pay for it.

She does a lot of hill walking and dropped her previous iPhone, but fortunately at the time I had generic gadget insurance from another company.

So my question is, is there a way to add apple care independently from the phone?.

I have all of the details such as Apple ID, imei, serial etc

Yes there is, however, if you do it online, they will need to run a diagnostic on the phone before it's accepted. You can do it in store, but they physically need to inspect the phone.

So any way you do it, she is going to know.

Not really, as I can't log into her Apple ID, as I don't have her password. Even if I did it would prompt for an approval code on her phone, which defies the point of my original post.

Im thinking this won't be possible after all.
