my canon printer has error message printer in use how do I correct this message as the printer is not being used

The other issue I am having is print jobs are wanted to be sent to my spouses printer vs mine, even though mine is set at default for my computer. HELP!!!!

unable to connect to any printer since recent update to Ventura 13.7.5 My printer shows up in "Add Printer", but I get a message "error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Bad file descriptor". I've updated the printer driver and have also had the same issue when try to print to other printers I've been able to use in the past.

Go to the printing queue first, make sure you did not have projects waiting, or delete them.
relaunch printer and perhaps the mac again.
make sure correct default printer appear in “Printers and Scanners”

see if problem is still there.

Sounds like you need to reset the Mac's printing system.
