Is it possible that a cover on the device is pressing the volume up button when you press the side button. Or accidentally pressing the volume up button in combination with the side button when grabbing your phone.

If you have a cover, try removing it to see if the problem still occurs.

Are you able to determine the exact time the screenshot happens while using the device?

hi Jim, I have changed my cover to my old one (which has never given me this issue). And it appeared that this did not cause the issue. However I just see another screenshot, the funny thing is that it was taken this morning, and I am pretty sure it wasn't in my photo galery the whole afternoon until now. As if it was taken, but only became visible 5-8 hrs later. Does that make sense?

Very strange. When viewing the photo, does it show that it was taken with an iPhone 15 and do you share your Apple ID with anyone?

Do you recall if you were using your phone at the time of the screenshot?

When you upgraded your phone, did you reset the old one to factory settings or log out of your Apple ID?

The only other way I know of to take a screen shot is by using Assistive Touch, but you would know if that was the case since the option appears on your screen. If not accidentally pressing the volume up button when pressing the side button to lock/unlock your phone, I do not know of another way your device would take a screenshot unless it is a hardware issue with the volume button.

Hi Jim
I did reset the old phone to factory defaults, my iCloud is also not used by others.
it does look as screenshots from my phone, but hard to say if it is the iPhone 15, even though I cannot think of any other device where this could have been done.

thanks for helping

When viewing the screenshot in the Photos app, you should be able to scroll up and see what device it was taken from.

I checked by making a screenshot myself, but the photo app doesn’t say that it was made with an IPhone 15 (or any other make)

Sorry, I checked as well and the screenshot does not show the device that took the screenshot, only with photos from the camera. The standard iPhone 15 should show a screen resolution of 2556×1179 pixels in the info using the Photos app.
