Printer Offline Error Message

I have a 2012 MacBrook Pro and Canon printer. Printing has been working just fine wirelessly for a long time... all of a sudden the printer won't print wirelessly and I have to plug them in (connect) them in to each other. I've checked all connections, wi-fi light is on, I've shut off and disconnected everything and turned. back on and still getting message that printer is offline. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

Just wanted to say that I did fix the problem, just by adding the same printer as if it was new and that worked. I then deleted the older printer (same one) from the list. No "reset" needed. Thank you.
