Based on. my actual measurements with a Kill-A-Watt meter Idle can't mean sleep mode. Also all of those numbers are higher than I experience in actual use (but not heavy use like video editing).
My 2021 M1 24" iMac
21.6 to 36 watts; mostly 30 watts when in use
0.00 amps (less than 1 watt) when in sleep mode

With the display off but not Locked it drops to 0.00 amps (less than 1 watt) about 30 seconds after the display goes off and stays at 0.00.
Thanks! Just wanted some sort of a figure.
I work mostly with spreadsheets when using both the keyboard and trackpad. And maybe video editing on iMovie once or twice a year. The rest of the time, I'm on Safari browsing or I'm reading something or the other, mostly books (got back into the habit).
Wow. Thanks for the numbers. How about when the screen is off and just sitting there. Not in sleep, just the screen off. Sometimes I like to have it not sleep during the day working, but I want the screen to turn off when I'm not using it during the day.
That's amazing power management. I think I'll just turn off sleep after display turns off. I know it wakes instantly from sleep during the day, I step off the desk at least 12 or more times a day, so it's constantly going to sleep then wake back and forth. I'd rather just let the screen go off but the iMac stay awake. Thank you for those numbers.
THAT little fact is amazing!
Thank you so much!
