MacBook Air M2 compatible with USB-C to Display Port 1.4 cable?

I have an M2 Macbook Air with the latest macOS installed, and I was wondering if a USB-C to Display Port 1.4 cable, specifically this one (https://www.belkin.com/ca/usb-c-to-displayport-1.4-cable/AVC014bt2MBK.html) will be able to connect this MacBook to an external monitor (which has a display port input) without any problems? If for some reason this is not possible, would buying an adapter (USB-C male to display port female) and having a display port cable connect my Macbook this way to my external monitor work? Thanks.

The description says that the cable

  • is compatible with the MacBook Air 15" M2 (2023)
  • is backwards compatible with DisplayPort version 1.2

I don't know what version of DisplayPort the Mac supports, but it sounds like this cable would work with it. (Some of the things it claims to support – like "8K@60Hz" – are beyond the specifications of the MacBook Air. The cable can't add support for that to your MacBook Air, but if it handles 8K@60Hz, it should handle 4K@60Hz, too.)

FYI, this cable costs $49.99 CAD, but there are others on the Amazon (Canada) site which

  • Range from about $13.49 CAD to $29.99 CAD
  • Are 4 – 6 feet long, with plugs on both ends
  • Have descriptions that claim 4K@60 Hz support
