MacBook Air "Update Apple ID settings."

Didn't use the laptop for a couple of weeks. When I opened it today, I noticed that it was fully discharged. Anyway, when I plugged and booted it up, I noticed that the date was stuck in June 9, which I found weird bec I used it as late as Dec. Anyway, I also noticed a notification which pointed to "Update Apple ID Settings." So I went to System Settings > Update Apple ID Settings > but the continue button is greyed out. I also noticed that though there is wifi connection, I can't seem to connect to any website. The system is affected. Do I just do a hard reset?
